Good idea to attract customers to a small auto repair shop

I have a one-car garage that used to be a U-haul storage facility and I plan to open my doors to the public offering auto repair. I want to offer only those repairs that can be performed relatively quickly, mostly because of space constraints. I know very well what I am doing when it comes to repairing cars, and I have all the legal issues sorted out with business licensing, etc. I have a sign for $22 oil changes (includes the oil and filter), and a large sign I ordered to put out front. I plan to employee only one other person at first, be open everyday, and even stay open late. I will give discounts to seniors and college students, and offer free diagnostics and battery charging. I will not sell customers services they do not need, and I can offer quality service at a discounted rate.

What would be some good promotional ideas to attract business in the beginning?

Solution:
For places like auto repair, LOCATION is everything. I honestly don't think websites, advertising, or any of that helps a regular auto repair shop. It helps ones that do customizing and stuff, but for someone looking for an oil change, they're just going to stop by what they see when driving.

Nothing you can do will really help except a good location, and sending out bulk mail with the post office, letting people know that they can get an oil change in 30 minutes for $22.

The best way to attract customers is to advertise your product. Attracting/looking for customers is not end of the job. You have to retain them. The next thing you should do to in order to retain and make your business grow and prosper is to implement great customer service. Mostly, customers are willing to pay more to get the comfort and the great service they want from the company. If the company fail to give their satisfaction, they tend to stay out from the company and find another one. That will be a great loss for the company when the customers are no longer with the company.
