I broke my key for a Lexus and need to buy a new one. I found new shells on the internet with blank keys.


Can I just have a lock smith cut the blank key to fit and switch out the pod inside the old shell with the new shell?

Depends on what year of Lexus it is.
Newer ones have RFID chips in them that can't be transferred it has to come in the new Key and it must be matched to your Car. Some locksmiths can do this, but all Lexus Dealers can do it.
It's expensive to do too.
